Got most of my graphics problems fixed. It turns out that when I updated my graphics card drivers, it swapped my primary and secondary displays, making the TV my primary. In games that didn't support dual monitors, they'd just try sending to the primary display... which was the TV, which was usually off. I swapped them back now, so now I can finally go back to playing Bloodlines.

Somebody has been thinking too hard about Chicken Boo.

The updated ATI drivers that made my monitor shut off for 90 minutes also made it so Bloodlines can't run. Again. I'd try rolling the drivers back, but as badly as they fucked up on their way in, I'm half afraid that they'll brick my system on the way out.

I bought it through Steam, but... the game has troubles with Vista, and they seemed un-fixable when coupled with the fact that Steam uses weird installations. It also doesn't like how much RAM I have, so that was another hack that was needed. Between the pile of stuff that needed changed, I spent a few hours and wasn't able to get it working.

... so I downloaded an unofficial cracked + patched version and it worked perfectly. As usual, getting a game illegally is the better option if you actually want it to work.

I finally gave up and just went home after three hours... and then took a two hour nap the moment I got home. The problem with getting days off due to sickness is that you're sick. <= Profound revelation.
